Hello everyone, just a bit about myself...

I can’t tell you I have been making pipes since I was a teenager or that I spent many years learning from some of the great master pipe makers. I can however tell you over the last few years I have developed a passion and yes, love of the craft of pipe making.

I am originally from northern New Jersey, just about 15 minutes from Manhattan.

I had two careers; I spent the first twelve years of my adult life in the beauty industry were I owned and operated a high fashion salon. My second career for thirty years was a professional photographer of which I still enjoy very much. You can view some of my work on our sister site. Both of my lifetime careers I believe gave me a sense of style and composition.

One cold snowy winter morning about twenty years ago, as I looked out my window unable to leave because of the huge snowdrifts that draped my very long driveway, I had to get away. That very day I made reservations to go on a photo workshop in Arizona with the Arizona Highways Magazine. For the next two years I went on workshops in different areas of the beautiful state of Arizona. In my third year I sold my business and just about everything else and moved to Arizona. That was ten years ago. I now live about forty minutes SE of Tucson with my wife who is a wonderful artist and carver, four horses, five cats, a terrific dog “Emmy” and the most fantastic mountain view imaginable … I am blessed.

After many years living in a very active, stressful environment I now live in a very relaxing one. One day about six years ago a friend came to visit, with him came the most beautiful pipe I ever saw. Holding this pipe, looking at the fabulous grain and color was just a great experience; I know some of you know exactly what I mean. Well, within a week I had my own pipe and that was my start to a wonderful hobby.

I went to my first pipe show about seven years ago, and again something happen to me, I now had a great desire to make my own pipe. Soon after, I purchased a book from Pimo in Vermont on pipe making, along with a starter kit and some tools. After a week of carving and sanding I had my first pipe, I was hooked. I had great encouraged by friends and family that I made pipes for, and today I am slowly developing a terrific group of clients.

I built a workshop in a section of our barn and have equipped it with all the necessary tools to enhance all the phases of carving and pipe making. My wife Jennifer is a wonderful carver also. You can see her handsome pipe stands on display.

I am primarily self-taught; I dedicate a great deal of time seeking out many fantastic resources in our pipe-making world. Michael Parks in Canada for whom I have the utmost respect for has been a great help and inspiration to me. I speak with him often and have spent time with him in his workshop.

I like to consider myself as an up and coming craftsmen, who is developing new and better ways everyday to hone my skills in the technical and creative way of pipe making.

I hope you enjoy my site; I have incorporated a section of my work in fine arts photography and my wife Jennifer’s work in carving and painting.

Best Regards,
