Hello everyone, just a bit about myself...
I can’t tell you I have been making pipes since I was a teenager or that I spent many years learning from some of the great master pipe makers. I can however tell you over the years I have developed a passion and yes, love of the craft of pipe making.
I am originally from northern New Jersey, just about 15 minutes from Manhattan.
I have always been involved with music and the arts. In the “Studio 54” days I was a drummer with a few bands in New York, I was then and still today in love with Jazz and big band music. At that time I also owned and operated a fashionable salon in Upper Montclair, N.J. As time passed I became very interested in the art of photography, I would travel to Arizona taking workshops at “Arizona Highways” before long I was doing photo work for a variety of businesses in New Jersey and New York. In 1997 I sold my business and moved to Arizona. I shortly was on the staff of photographers at Arizona Highways, taking people throughout this beautiful state on photo workshops. My photography work has been published in Cowboys and Indians, and has won numerous awards locally and nationally. I began my journey into the world of carving pipes in 2002. Carving pipes started as a hobby prompted by my wife’s gift of the book “ Pimo’s Pipe carving” Now My wife and I have a well-appointed shop in our barn along with our horses. We enjoy passing our days carving pipes and looking forward to the next show. Today I am a full time pipe maker and love every moment of it.
I am primarily self-taught; I dedicate a great deal of time seeking out many fantastic resources in our pipe-making world. Canadian Artistan, Michael Parks for whom I have the utmost respect for has been a great help and inspiration to me. I consider Michael one of the best pipe makers in the world.
The last few years at the Chicago pipe show, my table was next to another great danish pipe artisan, Lasse Skovgaard Jorgensen. Lasse has given me many wonderful insights in technique and design. He is a terrific person that I have enormous respect for.
I am committed to continually improve and refine both design and engineering of my pipes. It is my desire to make the most beautiful and best smoking pipes that I am capable of making.
I hope you enjoy my site; I have incorporated a section of my work in fine arts photography and my wife Jennifer’s work in carving and painting.
Best Regards,
