This double pipe stand was carved out of a very dense piece of Arizona Ironwood.  The light tan cambium layer of the tree was intact in this stand leaving the mystery of the grain to be revealed as I carved down to make the rests for the pipes.  I carved the top to echo Jon’s rustication on the pipes. The tamper is carved out of a piece from the side of this block.  Jon’s touch of turquoise really set the whole thing off nicely. I love the look.
